I am a Korean-born immigrant to Canada. I then moved to England to study, revisited Korea, and returned to Canada. For the last several years, I have been traveling between Canada, Europe, and Korea. The idea of alien, in relation to those of isolation, displacement, and trace, has been a central point of reference in the formation of my sense of identity. Although my education is largely formed from a Western point of view, I pursue the natural world of matter in Ninding my sense of self, beyond all cultural frames that have conNined me. Improvisation has become my method for art and for life.

In the spirit of storytelling, we pause to honour the ancient narratives of this land. We stand upon the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.

Just as we celebrate the diverse voices of immigrant and refugee artists, we recognize the First Peoples who have woven this place's first and enduring tales. Their stories are a testament to resilience, creativity, and the power of community. As we come together from many corners of the world, may we always remember, respect, and learn from the stories that this land holds.
