Join us for an inspiring panel discussion featuring immigrant artists who have successfully navigated Canada's performing arts landscape. This candid conversation explored the challenges, triumphs, and lessons learned by artists who crossed borders to bring their stories to Canadian stages.
Panellists shared their personal journeys — from navigating language barriers and cultural differences, to building new networks and finding their artistic voice in a new country. This session was part of STAND Festival 2021, Blackout Art Society's annual celebration of immigrant and refugee artists.
STAND Festival is a platform dedicated to uplifting the voices of immigrant and refugee artists in Vancouver, BC. Each year the festival brings together performances, workshops, and professional development sessions designed to support newcomer artists in building sustainable careers.
