Get to know the BC Arts Council, the Province of BC’s funding agency for arts and culture. This session will cover grant programs and their eligibility requirements, how to register in the online grant system, current strategic priorities, and tricks and tips for writing successful grants. Program Officers Nadine Carew and Erin Macklem look forward to meeting you and answering your questions.

Nadine Carew is a Program Officer with the BC Arts Council, taking care of applications from dance and theatre artists and organizations. Nadine comes to the BC Arts Council with over 15 years experience as an arts administrator. In addition to running a successful touring theatre company, Nadine has sat on boards and committees of various organizations including the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres, the International Performing Arts for Youth Society, Out Inner Space Dance and the Jessie Richardson Theatre Awards Society.
A strong advocate for the arts and culture sector, Nadine received the protégé Mallory Gilbert Award for Excellence in Leadership in 2015.

After 25 years working in professional theatre as a costume designer, playwright and administrator, Erin Macklem joined the team of Program Officers at the BC Arts Council in 2018.  She facilitates youth-focussed multidisciplinary programs including Co-op Placement, Youth Engagement, and Early Career Development.  She has a passion for outreach and engagement, especially as they relate to supporting the BC Arts Council’s strategic priorities.  Erin is a member of the Metis Nation of BC and the Metis Nation of Greater Victoria.  She strives to bring this cultural lens to her work, while being conscious of the white skin privilege afforded her by her father’s Irish and English ancestors.
